My new favorite way to decompress after work is listening to Saint Hildegard of Bingen, a 12th-century mystic renowned for her monophonic chant compositions. Her music features a single melodic line without harmony, staying true to the monophonic style of early liturgical music. Hildegard’s melodies stand out for their broad vocal range, often soaring high and dropping low, reflecting the depth of her spiritual visions. It’s beautiful music but I will admit to being lulled to sleep listening to it more than once!
